My name is Paola Carlesso and I am currently an Intern for the Latino Action Network Foundation (LANF). I am a junior at Rider University, majoring in Global Studies, with a minor in Political Science and French. Aside from that, I am an international student from Caracas, Venezuela. Being an international student has helped me become very involved on campus, including working for our Office of International Education and our Student Recreation Center. I am also a student-athlete, representing Rider University's Swimming and Diving Team at the Division I level. Among my other interests, I am very passionate about international affairs, particularly the topics of migration and humanitarian issues. Working as an intern for the LANF has allowed me to explore these issues further, learn how to address them, and provide assistance. I have gotten the opportunity to shadow different members of our Staff during my time as an Intern and participate in a variety of projects, which has taught me first-hand the skills required to tackle the pressing issues in our communities. Being part of the Latino community myself, I think it is important to understand existing challenges in order to better support those that need us the most.
