The Latino Action Network Foundation (LANF) is celebrating a historic victory for New Jersey’s immigrant families as Governor Mikie Sherrill signed the Immigrant Trust Act into law. This landmark legislation codifies protections that prohibit state and local law enforcement from participating in federal civil immigration enforcement, protecting New Jersey residents from the Trump administration’s extreme mass deportation tactics.

The Immigrant Trust Act (A4071/S3521) prevents New Jersey police from stopping, questioning, or detaining individuals solely based on their suspected immigration status and limits the sharing of personal data with federal authorities. It is part of a broader "Protection Package" signed by the Governor, designed to ensure that all New Jerseyans can access health care, education and public services without fear of federal harassment.
